I remember Rod Stewart wanted to record it. 
I said, “Yeah. Go ahead.” 
But he said “I want people to think I wrote it.” 
I can’t remember now. He said something like…. 
Oh yeah. “I want to say that I wrote it” 
so I told him to sod off! 
I swear to you that’s the truth. 
I thought, “well, let me think about that Rod for a minute…. No!” 
People are weird aren’t they?!? 
It’s a nice song by the way. It’s got a nice kind of vibe to it.

I understand that was produced by Junior Campbell 
from The Marmalade? Great song writer.

He was, yeah. He’s a very, very good producer.

ルボの人たちが田舎者ということはない。
道のりがあってもタブックは近しい。
町の親類の家に泊まったり、家を持っている人も稀だが、いる。

写っているのは家のほかに、
お墓、鶏,豚の家畜、備蓄の薪と竹竿。

煎ったコーヒー豆を何度か臼と杵でつき、
ゴミから選り分ける。最後は、手動のミルにかける。

林縁のコーヒーの木

部落から400m。
手前に Lubo Elementary School、
タヌダン川を挟んで Tanudan National Highschool。
小学校は後に流され、再建される。

ルボを去る朝。

2019年には、この風景はなくなっていた。
電線が遮っているし、難所に変わりはないが、
道路整備が進んでいたからだ。

ルボ 5 (タブック郊外)

小屋は米倉


ライフルや自動小銃を携える男たちが多い。
野鳥(やイノシシ)を撃つのだが、この頃は、
部族間抗争が終結したばかりで、
緊張感があった。

台地に刻まれた細い谷を
部落はずれで渡る。
あの稜線を北回り(左方向)に迂回すると立派な橋が
すでに架かっていて、タヌダン川左岸沿いに、
ここまでの道路整備工事が続いている。

その上は水浴び場になっていて、人影が絶えない。

プーパヤック農場

一昨年に再訪した王室プロジェクトの農場。
国軍との最前線、
共産主義者が根城にしていた地域。

最近、Youtube旅動画を鑑賞した。
家族でナーン県をキャンプ泊するうちの3泊、
Sapan - Piang So - Phu Phayakと、
途中はナーン川に沿って北上する。
もしや、自分が行ったのと同じ頃(2024.7-8)かもしれない。


プーパヤック(0km)、ボクーア郡まで 50km。
右に曲がる道路はぬかるんでいて進むのを躊躇ったが、
キャンプ場がああなっていると初めて知った。
ここを真っ直ぐ登って行くと、
コミュニストが潜んだ小屋が再建・保存されている。

こうした場所こそ、秘境と呼べるのだ。

ルボ 3 (タブック郊外)

‘Lubo - Kanlungan ng mga Mambabatok’_ dokumentaryo 
ni Sandra Aguinaldo _Full Episode_ _ I-Witness

30分、 2022年の動画。
ルボにおけるバトゥック、つまりタトゥー文化を紹介する。
山の向こうのブットブット地区のワン・オドをも紹介しているが、
書物の引用で「ワン・オドによると、
カリンガ・タトゥーの発祥は、ルボであろう」と。

ルボでは、ワン・オドのような伝説的な彫り師は知られていないが、
タトゥー文化はしっかり伝わっているのだ。
動画で実演する Daniel Pasadoや彼の娘のように。
公平に言えば、ワン・オドに注目が集まり過ぎている、
というところだ。
松の木を燃やした煤をそのまま溶くのでなく、
煮出した樹木チップの絞り汁を加えるとか、
ルボのほうが手順が繊細だ。
先のハードカバーでも紹介しているが、
タッピングの棒も、ワン・オドのそれより、ルボの場合は道具らしく美しい。

ボクが庇護下にあるファミリーから頼まれ、
腕をみせてくれるが、気が進まないようす。

以上、ルボのご婦人方だが、
タトゥーは ルボで彫られたかは定かでないものの、
タヌダン地区から嫁いでいるなら、
ルボのものとそう違わないだろう。
